Steps to Change Default Media Player on Your MAC OS

MAC is one of the most preferred Operating Systems. Every operating system has its own default media player. If you don’t like the current default media player, then you need to follow the given steps.

The kind of media player is fixed for the types of media files. So, you need to fix a particular type of media player based on the media format.

Step 1: 

You need to find the file be it audio or video.

Step 2: 

You need to right-click on the file you have found. A drop-down menu appears. You need to click on the option that appears third from the top, Get Info.

Step 3: 

In the information displayed, you can get to note the file extension of the media file, be it audio or video. The common file extensions for the audio files are M4A, FLAC, MP3, MP4, WAV, WMA, and AAC. The common file extensions for video files are MP4, WOV, WMV, FLV, AVI, AVCHD, MKV.

Step 4: 

Also, when you right-click on the media file, you can get to see the list of default media player available for that particular file format. When you click on the Open with option, you can get to see furthermore software available in the MAC OS itself to open the file.

Step 5: 

In case, you aren’t really happy with the software available to open the file, then you need to click on the arrow button near the Other option. This leads to a drop-down menu. You can choose your software from this. In case, you aren’t really satisfied with this software as well, then you can download software from the app store in the MAC OS.

Step 6: 

Once you decide on the software, you need to click on the option Change all. Once you click on Change all, then the software is fixed for the current audio file extension you had chosen. In case, you wish to change the software for the other audio file extension, then you have to repeat the same procedure manually. These are the steps you need to follow for MP4 player MAC

Click on the blue coloured continue button to save the changes.
